Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
In this passage, two phrases jump out: “all your heart” and “all your ways.” Try replacing the word “all” with “some of” or “most of,” and it doesn’t work, does it? The only way to trust God is to trust him entirely. The only way to follow him is with 100% undivided commitment. Trusting God also means not leaning on your own understanding.
